Scope and Contents
Comprises handwritten and typescript copies of 35 speeches on varied subjects, 1903-42, written and delivered by Austin McLanahan (1871-1946), Baltimore banker, at meetings of the "Politics-Literary Club," a private literary society. One additional speech, circa 1910, was read to a meeting of the Bank Clerks Assoc. Also includes correspondence (5 items) between Alexander Brown and August Belmont, Mar. 27-April 3, 1906, and between Austin McLanahan and John J. Dolan, May 17-19, 1938, pertaining to McLanahan's speeches.
