Biographical / Historical
George Heide Baynard (1819-1871) was a physician from Philadelphia and Baltimore. The son of John Baynard (1788-1819) of Baltimore, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1841. Baynard served as a Secretary of the Texas Republic's legation to the Netherlands, 1844-1845. By 1850 he was back in Baltimore employed at his profession, but ill-health and inherited means made him ever less active until his death. He never married.
