Biographical / Historical
Daguerreotype portrait of John Burgin Westcott (1801-1887), a Kent County merchant and politician. Westcott served as a member of the House of Delegates during the Civil War.
In 1831, he married Mary Ann Hynson (1813-1841), with whom he had three children: Ann Rebecca (1837-1856); Harriett Louisa (1838-1921); and George Hynson (1841-1848). In 1843, Westcott married his second wife, Anna Maria Tilden (1813-1897), with whom he had one son, Charles Tilden (1848-1911).
