John Thomas Williams (1820-1905) was a photographer in Baltimore, Maryland and York, Pennsylvania. In 1847, he married Cecelia Dushane (1823-1897), daughter of Valentine Dushane of Baltimore. They were parents to: Elizabeth Ann (1848-1853); Frank Thomas (1857-1889); Nellie C (1860-1944); and John Thomas (1865-1902).

Slip of paper in case reads:" Daguerreotype of John Thomas Williams. About 1850. At my death to be given to the Maryland Historical Society, to be placed with the other relics which I have already given them. Signed Nellie C. Williams.." The envelope reads "J.T. Williams -daguerreotypist, self-portrait."
