Biographical / Historical
Daguerreotype portrait of Elizabeth Hall Schad (1827-1927) with her children, Catherine Hall Schad (1850-1898), Mary Evelyn Schad (1851-1910), and Andrew Jackson Schad (1853-1909). Elizabeth was the wife of Andrew Schad (1813-1882), a German immigrant and a professor of music. The couple married in Baltimore in 1848 and had nine children. In addition to their three oldest, pictured here, there was Adelaide (1855-1916); George (1858-); James Edward (1860-1941); William (1862-1931); Walter (1867-1940); and Helen (1869-1956).
