Abstract
Theodore R. McKeldin was Governor of Maryland, 1951-1959. Prior to his election as governor, he served as Mayor of Baltimore, 1943-1947, and then again from 1963-1967. In this interview, he discusses: Family and early life, education, and first jobs; compares Republican and Democratic parties in Maryland, governorship and mayoralty, and his early and later campaigns; characterizes Mayor William Broening, President Dwight Eisenhower, President Lyndon Johnson, and Judge Simon Sobeloff; emphasizes his respect for all people and religions.
