Abstract
Dr. Johann Eltermann was an organist, choirmaster, voice teacher, and conductor. In this oral history interview, he discusses: German choral societies in Baltimore, past and present; the Arion Maennerchor; the Deutscher Damenchor; the Kinderchor; German festivals; National Sangerfest of 1903 at the Fifth Regiment Armory; German theater; operettas and oratorio concerts; concert of the National Association of Glee Clubs at the New York's World Fair in 1964; and reasons for the decline in the number of choral groups.
