General
Summary: Browne tells a true story of a woman, southern sympathizer who was trying to smuggle letters, morphine & strychnine and grey flannel from Baltimore to the South on a bay steamer. She was searched, managed to drop the letters overboard, got rid of the drugs, and the flannel was not discovered. The letters were recovered in Baltimore & by chance found their way into friendly hand & eventually were delivered. A true story that reads like a novel, Browne said.
