General
Summary: Please pass news to my family, who haven't written; No encounters with the enemy except with pickets. Yankee gun boats on York river. Expect to visit Williamsburg. Have to pay high prices for food. Found rival in camp who out ranked him but had less experience. Speeks of camp medicine [Q is Dr.?] Sees no chance for promotion, two other Drs. out rank him. Unhappy and wants to resign, particularly since misses Richmond and the Hospital. Compliments to friends.
