General
Summary: Army on the front. Breckinridge has left Wartrace for Knoxville or Vicksburg. Vicksburg stands, but no word in three days. Hears of Yankee destruction and outrages at home. Wants news from Maryland. Would like to serve with cousin Jim (General James Archer) at Chancelorsville. Sorry about General Jackson's death. Hopes will go to Shelbyville to "Thradh" Rosecrans for murfeesboro. In fine company with good officers.
