Summary: This diary, written by sixteen year old Margaret “Maggie” Mehring (1847-1923), recounts life in Carroll County during the Civil War. Twenty miles from Gettysburg, Maggie describes what is happening around her, her thoughts and feelings in the tense atmosphere as troops march through town.
