General

Summary: Albert Wine, a Civil War soldier, stationed at South Anna Bridge, Hanover County, Virginia, writes a two page letter to his wife. He tells little of his life but requests that she send him a "pair of Yankee pant and a canteen." He also sends his love to the boys, John and Luther, and tells them to be good and to work hard. He reminds his wife to have the hay cut when it is time. Of the war he only says that some of the men are disheartened by the fall of Vicksburg and Port Hudson and that two trains loaded with wounded from General Lee's army come to Richmond every day.
