General
Summary: This broadside eloquently describes how the town of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, was burned by 'a portion of general Early's command' on July 30, 1864 and all the inhabitants' belongings destroyed, and then asks "What help can you render in money or clothing?". A large handwritten note on the sheet states, "We the undersigned have been appointed committee to lay before you the above for your further consideration" and is signed and dated August 8, 1864 by Thomas Kelso and B. [De-].
