Abstract
Claire M. Stieff was the wife of Gideon Stieff and served as Vice-President of the Stieff Silver Company. In this interview, she discusses: German ancestry; Dohme, Marees, and Stieff families; origin of Stieff Silver Company and move to Wyman Park; factory work during World War I and World War II; role of women today; interesting Stieff assignments and contracts; her work as a Goucher College trustee, in the Civic League, Red Cross, Women's Board of Johns Hopkins Hospital, Child Study Center, and Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland.
