Estate of Rembrandt Peale Artist

General

Estate of Rembrandt Peale to the Honorable Senate and House of Representatives of the US submitted by the heirs (Harriet Peale, Rosalita Underwood and John Griscom) give the historical picture "Washington before Yorktown" to be remain placed in the Rotunda of the Capitol. The portrait traveled to Baltimore, New York, Boston and Philadelphia. Made its way to Corcoran in 1902 and was given to the gallery in 1944.
