Correspondents include Capt. Charles Wilkes, John Torrey, Asa Gray, Johns Hopkins, R.W. McClelland, etc. Journals record daily events of Wilkes Expedition and later expeditions in OR and CA. Kept by Wm D. Brackenridge, 6 vols. Describe places visited, with observations on botanical life seen. Vols. 3-6 are notes also included in vol. 2.
