Born in Baltimore. Entered ministry 1842. Became assistant at St. Paul's and St. Peter's, Baltimore. Chaplain at Spring Grove until 1882. Prominent Mason. Episcopalian.

Scope and Contents

Vol.1:1845-64 records of money received from ministerial fees and salaries, and money spent for clothes and books. Vol. 2:1861-73 personal expenditures. Accounts of pewholders, Christ Church, Western Run Parish, etc.. Vol. 3:1874-81 receipts and personal expenses. Vol. 4:1882-91 general expenses, tithes, properties (1882), receipts, and plan of an apple orchard. Papers relating chiefly to church affairs. Letters concerned with various rectorships in GA, VA, MD, PA. Correspondence with Bishop W.R. Whittingham, Bishop Stephen Elliott, Rev. Wm. Bacon Stevens, Rev. John Johns, and, Rev. E.A. Dalrymple. Also isolated deeds, letters, leases of other individuals.
