Historical Note

In 1973 Larry Krause founded The City Dweller as a free monthly alternative community newspaper serving Baltimore. In 1977 the name was changed to the Baltimore Chronicle. The paper specialized in “airing different points of view on local as well as national issues” with a particular focus on “controversial stories that some of the bigger newspapers in town tend to overlook.” It routinely covered stories ranging from politics, community issues, local theater, arts and music, to anti-nuke rallies and labor protests. The newspaper ceased publication of the print edition in 2003, transitioning to an online newspaper that is still in existence as of June 2016.
