Hicks and Alfred Hicks, his daughter Elizabeth Hicks Harding, and her husband, William Harding. The letters contain news on family and business affairs, chiefly news of sea trade.

This material focuses on the merchant and banking aspect of Matthew Marine's career, but only casual mention is made of two schooners he built.
