Gist, Mordecai, 1743-1792

This collection primarily contains the incoming correspondence of Dr. John Paul Cockey (1796-1859) as well as some incoming and outgoing correspondence of Mordecai Gist (1743-1792). Also included is Cockey family genealogical data and a copy of a memoir of Brigadier General Mordecai Gist.

This collection contains the correspondence of Brigadier General Mordecai Gist during the American Revolution. Topics include military affairs and the Maryland Line, accounts and returns (1779-83), and Gist family records.
