Scope and Contents
The Baltimore Urban Renewal and Housing Agency Collection consists of 225 images taken by Maryland photographer Marion E. Warren between 1962 and 1970. The images provide excellent architectural views and street scenes of neighborhoods in downtown Baltimore which have since been demolished. They include blocks razed for the Charles Center project and areas west of Baltimore’ Inner Harbor which late gave way to urban renewal. Warren is one of Maryland’s most renowned photographers of mid-to late 20th century Maryland, and his photographs illustrate numerous books. Some of the images in this collection appeared in Living City: Baltimore’s Charles Center and Inner Harbor Development, published in 2002 by the Maryland Historical Society Press.
Each photograph has an individual Item ID: BURHA.##. The collection was found with Item IDs already assigned running from BURHA.001 - .500. Two hundred seventy five photographs, primarily from BURHA .48 - .331 are either missing or were never part of the collection.
