Scope and Contents
This collection is composed of numerous documents relating to the Deiches Scholarship Fund starting with the will of Mr. William Deiches. Application forms request parents’ names, birthplaces, occupations, and education. The student’s academic grades, community and extra-curricular activities, professional goals, college choices, and estimated needs are requested as well as recommendations from teachers, counselors, and principals. Correspondence between students and the Deiches Fund Trustees and the secretary have been preserved. In one case the student, George Resche (fl. 1955) included his Master’s degree thesis (1965) entitled “An Investigation of a Possible Correlation between Jupiter Activity and Solar Activity." This had been submitted to the Graduate School of Florida State University.
