Roger B. Taney to St. George W. Teackle. borrows thirty thousand dollars and is given land. Roger B. Taney was born to tobacco planters in Calvert County and attended Dickinson College. In1799, he began to practice as an attorney and elected to the MD Legislature, State Senator, director of Frederick County bank, Attorney General of MD and later the Attorney General of the US. He was also the 5th Chief Justice of the US and delievered the majority opinion in the Dred Scott v Sandford case in 1857.
