The collection primarily contains correspondence of Lawrence J. Connolly during his service in World War I. He sent many letters to his mother and father while serving with the United States Army in France. The letters discussed his day-to-day activities during basic training and while abroad. Documents related to the Baker family, such as bills of sale for slaves, are also included in the collection.
