The collection contains correspondence and ephemera related to the Griffin, Murray, Studds, and Douty families. This includes such documents as letters between family members, birth certificates, and death notices. Of particular interest is correspondence from William M. Griffin to his mother and siblings during his service with the Union Army. His letters discuss his work as quartermaster for the Baltimore Battery, Maryland Light Artillery, training, and life in the army, as well as desertion.
