Biographical / Historical
Solomon Schapiro and Sons was established in 1918. The Baltimore rag dealers eventually became leaders in the recycling industry. Brothers Bernard (Ben) and Joseph Schapiro operated the business after Solomon Schapiro retired, and were later joined by brother Daniel. The Schapiros were active leaders in their industry, community, and Jewish charitable, religious, and social institutions.
