Biographical Note
Mary Diana Harper (1803-1818) was the eldest daughter of Robert Goodloe Harper (1765-1825) and Catharine Carroll Harper (1778-1861), and a granddaughter of Charles Carroll of Carrollton (1737-1832), a signer of the Declaration of Independence. She studied under Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton at St. Joseph's Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. She tragically died at the age of 15 while studying in France, and is buried in New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore.
