Scope and Contents
This collection consists of seven letters; a German printed almanac; a handwritten transcript of Robert E. Lee's General Order No. 9; newspaper clippings; a hand-painted Christmas card; a Civil War poem; and a recipe for soap. Five of the letters were either written to or by members of the Coriell family, while the remaining two letters relate to Mary E. Bowers (fl. 1865-1892). The letters mention the weather, mutual friends, illness, trips, and occasionally Baltimore politics.
