Biographical Note
The Worthington family settled in Baltimore County, Maryland during the early years of the eighteenth century, establishing the area known as “Worthington Valley.” The family purchased much property in the area as farmland and became prominent in Maryland society.

Scope and Contents
The collection contains land patents and deeds related to the Worthington family’s holdings in Baltimore County, Maryland. This includes patents to Milford and Wiltshire, which were initially owned by John Welsh and Aaron Rawlings, which were later transferred to the Worthington family. The patent to New Milford/ Milford Enlarged to Thomas Worthington, a deed transferring ownership of Brice-his-Share and Wiltshire to Rezin H. Worthington from John Worthington et al., and the deed to Turkey Range bought by Rezin H. Worthington from Nathaniel Wells also make up the collection.
