Biographical / Historical
In circa 1860, T. Edward Hambleton, Jr. (1829-1906) established the banking firm of John A. Hambleton and Co. in partnership with brother John A. Hambleton in Baltimore. T. Edward Hambleton, Jr. resided at 64 N. Carey St., and married Arabella Stansbury in 1852. His father was T. Edward Hambleton (1798-1876), who married Sarah Ann Slingluff in 1824, was President of the Maryland Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore in the 1860s, and resided at 27 Calhoun.
The Hambletons were related by marriage to the Crawford family: Frank Sherwood Hambleton (b. 1855) married Anna Brooks Crawford (born 1863) in 1884 in Baltimore. Anna Crawford’s father’s uncle and aunt (siblings of her grandmother Charlotte Cromwell Crawford) were Nimrod Cromwell (1813-1883) and Parthenia Cromwell Thysen (1825-1898), who resided together in Washington, D.C.; Parthenia married Paulus Thysen of Washington, D.C. in 1842. A sister of Nimrod and Parthenia was Susan Cromwell Bowers (1821-1899), who married a Capt. Thomas Bowers. Their parents were Thomas (1784-1826?) and Deborah White (1790-1869) Cromwell.
