This collections contains primarily genealogical correspondence as well as manuscript materials related to the Pleasants family and related families such as Tudor, Poultney, Curzon, and Jencks.
Plimhimmon Hotel photograph collection
This collection contains photographs of Plimhimmon Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. Included are views of the lobby, music room, ballroom, dining room, and guest rooms. Photos of hotel guests include an 1884 bathing group and guests playing indoor badminton circa 1940.
Political and presidential ephemera collection
The collection of 1,250 pieces of stolen ephemera was recovered from Barry Landau’s apartment by the National Archives and Records Administration in 2011. The provenance of these remaining orphaned items was never fully traced. Politico-Literary Club papers
This collection contains papers read before the Politico-Literary Club of Baltimore from 1900 to 1942. Topics include American industry, politics, biography,history, Maryland history, medicine and applied science, economics, religion, European and Roman history, as well as poetry and current literature. Most of the papers are typescript, while a few are in published form from various professional journals.
Portrait vertical file
This vertical file contains portrait photographs of over 6,000 individuals. “Vertical file” is a term used to describe collections of photographs, clippings, etc. arranged by subject matter and housed in filing cabinets. Unlike the numbered photographs collections, items in the vertical files are not arranged in collections by source, or assigned catalog numbers.
Posey account books
This collection contains the account books of the Posey family from 1824-1902.
Poster collection
The Maryland Center for History and Culture's Poster Collection consists of over 1,300 posters from the 20th century and early 21st century. These range from propaganda posters, advertisements for cultural events in Baltimore and Maryland, political campaign posters, and more.
Potthast Brothers photograph collection
This collection contains photographs of furniture made by the Potthast Brothers Company, unidentified family portraits, crews of the Bremen Line ships, Baltimore shipping and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Pier, and ships Lynata and Shawmut. Other subjects are the Knights of the Maccabees in regalia and soldiers of the Spanish-American war.
Power family photograph collection
This collection contains two photograph albums related to the Power family of Queen Anne's County, Maryland. Images depict views of life and places on the Eastern Shore as well as scenes located in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
