Eastern Shore (Md. and Va.)

This collection spans five generations of the Richard Tilghman family of the Gross' Coate estate in Talbot County, Maryland. The papers, mostly correspondence, are divided into subgroups of land papers, papers of the four principal family members, and finally miscellaneous papers.

This collection contains views of the Tolchester Beach Amusement Park located in Kent County, Maryland. Also included are photographs of excursion steamships of the Tolchester Steamboat Company.

This organization was founded by Anne Rothwell Stewart (d. 1930) in Baltimore in 1926 with the goal of social fellowship and public service for women who were born on Maryland's Eastern Shore or who had family connections in that region.
