Abstract

The Baltimore Heritage, Inc. collection consists of 1750 photographs and 900 architectural surveys of parts of Fells Point, Little Italy and Old Town compiled by Robert Kahn for Baltimore Heritage, Inc. in the summer of 1963.

The collection is organized into two series by format, then arranged alphabetically by street. Series include: Series I. Prints and Architectural Surveys (Boxes 1 - 3); Series II. Negatives (Boxes 4 - 5).

All available information about the building(s) depicted in each image can be found in the corresponding biographical notes, including construction information, number of stories, notable features, and the use of the building as of 1963.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Acquired by the Peale Museum circa 1963-1967. In 1997 the Baltimore City Life Museums/Peale Museum closed due to lack of funding. Their collections were transferred to the Maryland Historical Society in 1998.

Scope and Contents

Collection includes 1750 photographs and 900 architectural surveys of parts of Baltimore City. 405 blocks of the following streets are represented: Albemarle Street, Aliceanna Street, Ann Street, E. Baltimore Street, Bank Street, Bethel Street, S. Bond Street, S. Broadway, Dallas Street Durham Street, Eastern Avenue, Exeter Street, E. Falls Avenue, Fawn Street, E. Fayette Street, Fell Street, Fleet Street, Front Street, Granby Street, High Street, Lancaster Street, Lloyd Street, E. Lombard Street, Plowman Street, E. Pratt Street, Regester Street, Shakespeare Street, Stiles Street, Thames Street, Trinity Street, Watson Street, S. Wolfe Street.
