Abstract

The collection of A. Aubrey Bodine photographs donated to the Peale Museum by Nancy Bodine in 1973 consists of more than 12,000 images. Of these, more than 4,500 are processed and available to the public. The images document virtually all aspects of life in Baltimore, Maryland and the Chesapeake region. The photographs consist primarily of 5x7, 4x5 and 120 mm film negatives. There are also 4x5 glass negatives and a few color transparencies.

Abstract

The Baltimore Urban Renewal and Housing Agency Collection consists of 225 images taken by Maryland photographer Marion E. Warren between 1962 and 1970. The images provide excellent architectural views and street scenes of neighborhoods in downtown Baltimore which have since been demolished.

Abstract

The Brown Collection consists of 483 glass and film negatives. The images are primarily unidentified views of Baltimore and vicinity taken by members of the Baltimore Camera Club.There are also informal and posed portraits, rural scenes (landscape and nature shots), parades (including Baltimore’s homecoming parade of 1907), the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904, beach and boardwalk views, and maritime views.

The Chamber of Commerce photograph collection consists of 1 box of 282 photographs from the files of the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce. The photographs date from 1953 to circa 1966. The majority are photographic prints, with a few film negatives, depicting views around Baltimore City including buildings, political events, sporting events, and maritime scenes.

Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation photograph collection

Abstract

This collection consists of nine boxes of more than 2400 photographs taken as part of an architectural survey of Baltimore neighborhoods by the Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation (CHAP) in the 1960s. The photographs, almost all 3 ½" x 3 ½" or 3 ½" x 5” black and white photographic prints, are exterior views of buildings identified by street and street number. There are also twelve 35mm negatives.

Davenport photograph album

The David Bendann Photograph Collection consists of three boxes of 33 glass and film negatives taken by Baltimore photographer and artist David Bendann . There are a few self portraits of Bendann. Most of the photographs are unidentified portraits or photographs of paintings or lithographs, including portraits of George Washington, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson.
