Abstract
The Chamber of Commerce photograph collection consists of 1 box of 282 photographs from the files of the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce. The photographs date from 1953 to circa 1966. The majority are photographic prints, with a few film negatives, depicting views around Baltimore City including buildings, political events, sporting events, and maritime scenes.

The collection is broken down into four series by topic. Series include: Series I. Baltimor Views; Series II. Politics and sports; Series III. Maritim; Series IV. Non-Baltimore.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Collection was donated to the Peale Museum from the Maryland Historical Society in 1966. In 1997 the Baltimore City Life Museums/Peale Museum closed due to lack of funding. Their collections were transferred to the Maryland Historical Society in 1998.
Scope and Contents
This collection contains views of Downtown Baltimore including Charles Center, the Baltimore Civic Center, Preston Gardens, and the Holiday Inn on Lombard Street. Political event photographs feature Baltimore mayors Phillip Goodman, Thomas D’Alesandro, and Theodore R. McKeldin. There also photographs of miscellaneous sporting events including a baseball game at Memorial Stadium, New York Mets Manager Casey Stengel receiving a plaque at Memorial Stadium, horse racing at Pimlico racetrack, and ice skating at St. Paul Place. Maritime images include viewsw of unidentified and identified ships, mostly in the Baltimore harbor, ships being loaded with cargo, and harbor views. There are also some images of unidentified locations outside of Baltimore.
