David Bendann photograph collection
Abstract
The David Bendann Photograph Collection consists of three boxes of 33 glass and film negatives taken by Baltimore photographer and artist David Bendann . There are a few self portraits of Bendann. Most of the photographs are unidentified portraits or photographs of paintings or lithographs, including portraits of George Washington, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson.

Items are arranged by format. 5 x 7 inch film negatives are in Box 1, 8 x 10 inch film negatives are in Box 2, and 8 x 10 inch glass negatives are in Boxes 2-3.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Collection was donated to Peale Museum in 1969 from Mrs. Maurice Bendann, daughter in law of David Bendann; Acc# 1969.26. In 1997 the Peale/Baltimore City Life Museums closed due to lack of funding. Their collections were transferred to the Maryland Historical Society in 1998.
